Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 16, 2026

Candid is a financial partnership platform for couples. We help two people share information about money in a structured, mutual way. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the rights you have over your information.

What we collect

We collect three categories of information:

  • Account information. Your name, email address, and the role you play in a couple (partner A or partner B). We use email to send sign-in codes and transactional messages.
  • Assessment and disclosure responses. The answers you provide during the financial personality assessment, the numbers conversation (income, debt, assets, obligations), and the partnership plan. This information belongs to you and your partner together. It is the substance of the product.
  • Usage information. Standard server logs and basic analytics (pages visited, funnel events) used to understand whether the product is working and to fix problems.

How your partner sees your information

Candid is designed for mutual disclosure. By default, neither partner sees more than the other has submitted. Your responses become visible to your partner only after both of you have completed the same step. Until then, your answers are private to you and to our system.

How we use information

  • To run the product: render reports, generate the partnership plan, send invites and reminders.
  • To keep the service secure and prevent abuse.
  • To improve the product based on aggregate usage patterns.
  • To respond when you contact us.

We do not sell your information. We do not share your assessment or disclosure data with advertisers, data brokers, or third parties for marketing.

Who we share information with

We share information only with the service providers we use to run Candid:

  • Supabase:database and authentication.
  • Resend:transactional email delivery.
  • Vercel:web hosting.
  • PostHog:product analytics.

Each of these providers handles information under their own privacy terms and only for the purpose of providing infrastructure to Candid. We may also disclose information when required by law.

How long we keep information

We keep your couple’s responses for as long as the couple is active. Either partner can end the couple at any time from the dashboard, which permanently deletes your shared compatibility report, your numbers disclosure, and the editable copy of your Partnership Plan. Account information (name, email) is retained until you ask us to remove it.

When each step finishes (the compatibility report after Step 1, the numbers side-by-side after Step 2, and the signed Partnership Plan after Step 3), Candid emails both partners a PDF copy of that step’s output. Those emails live in your inboxes under your control; they are your permanent record of what you each shared and what you agreed to, independent of Candid’s database.

We retain only what is necessary to comply with law, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements.

When a couple ends

Either partner can end the couple unilaterally. Ending the couple is permanent and irreversible inside Candid:

  • Both partners’ assessment responses are deleted.
  • Both partners’ numbers disclosures are deleted.
  • The editable copy of your Partnership Plan is deleted.
  • The other partner is not notified by email when this happens; they discover it on their next visit to the dashboard.

The step PDFs Candid emailed at each completion (compatibility report, numbers side-by-side, signed Plan) remain in each partner’s personal inbox. Candid cannot restore a deleted couple.

Your rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the information we hold about you.
  • Correct information that is wrong.
  • End your couple at any time from your dashboard, permanently deleting your shared responses (see above).
  • Ask us to delete your account (name and email) by emailing privacy@candid.partners.
  • Export your responses in a portable format by emailing the same address.
  • Withdraw consent to processing where consent is the legal basis.

Security

We use industry-standard practices to protect your information in transit and at rest. No system is perfectly secure, but we treat your financial information with the seriousness it deserves.

Children

Candid is not directed to children under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we will notify you by email and update the “Last updated” date above. Continued use of Candid after changes take effect means you accept the revised policy.
